Frank Burns, having now recovered from his broken femur, ventured out on his first long-distance cycle trek on 29 August 2010, following the ancient Via Francigena from Canterbury to Rome, a total distance of 1300 miles, to include a crossing of the Swiss Alps. He is using the venture to re-focus some attention on the plight of the people of Haiti, especially the children, whose situation 6 months after the earthquake is still desperate. Do follow the ups and downs of this journey on his blog at: http://www.frankburns.wordpress.com/
And if you want to make a donation to this deserving cause, you can do so safely at: http://www.justgiving.com/frankburns .
Thank you in advance.

Some tips to help you live simply and sustainability: One energy saving light bulb will save around £9 and cut 40kg of CO2 per annum. Clothes washed at 40° rather than 60° use a third less electricity and produce a third less CO2. A shower uses two thirds less water and energy than a bath. Turn down the thermostat 1° and save 8-10% off your bill. Turn off appliances at the wall when not in use. Don't leave appliances on standby. No one can do everything. Everyone can do something. It is our Christian duty.
The practice of reciting Morning prayer from the Breviary, the official prayer of the Church, has become widespread in many parishes. So, we would like to invite those who come to the morning Mass during the week to join the community in reciting Morning Prayer at 9.15 am. The Psalms which we recite would have been very familiar to Jesus and would most probably have formed the basis of his prayer life. We hope you will come and join us.
