Some tips to help you live simply and sustainability: One energy saving light bulb will save around £9 and cut 40kg of CO2 per annum. Clothes washed at 40° rather than 60° use a third less electricity and produce a third less CO2. A shower uses two thirds less water and energy than a bath. Turn down the thermostat 1° and save 8-10% off your bill. Turn off appliances at the wall when not in use. Don't leave appliances on standby. No one can do everything. Everyone can do something. It is our Christian duty.
The total spent on repairs to the church heating and the entrance porch is currently about £65,000. Money raised so far amounts to about £39,000 and includes £7,500 from parish funds; £2,370 sponsored slim; £2,199 Giftshop; £4,799 stained glass sponsorship; £3,495 Burns Night; £1,726 plays & concert. This still leaves a further £26,000 to raise so if anyone has any good fund raising ideas, please speak to Fr. John. Click here fore more details.
The practice of reciting Morning prayer from the Breviary, the official prayer of the Church, has become widespread in many parishes. So, we would like to invite those who come to the morning Mass during the week to join the community in reciting Morning Prayer at 9.15 am. The Psalms which we recite would have been very familiar to Jesus and would most probably have formed the basis of his prayer life. We hope you will come and join us.
